1. They refused to come out to estimate our apartment visually and instead relied on us telling them what we had. We were extremely thorough and triple checked our list only being off in our estimate by 5 boxes. Yet they ended up under guessing the weight of our shipment by a thousand pounds. Than tried to back out of the guaranteed price by charging us an extra thousand dollars after they picked up our goods. After yelling at them on the phone for an hour we got it down to five hundred.
5. When the driver came to drop off our stuff we had communicated to the office that they will need to down size the truck due to space. The office didn't tell the driver and as a result we had to wait an additional four hours for the driver to take the semi back, unload onto a smaller truck, and move it back out.
We certainly recommend Reliable Van & Storage / Allied Van Lines to anyone who wants to relocate with peace of mind. Remember - you get what you pay for.
4. The representatives you are forced to work with don't care about you, your money, or your stress. They literally tried to say that I should be more stressed out about wars and famine instead of my moving needs. Pathetic! Its my possessions and my money at stake. Take it seriously.
All the 5 star reviews here are fake, this company is AWFUL! After I used them and talked to others I found similar situations where they have broken things and “underestimated” the job. All the one line, 5 star reviews by accounts that only have one review are fake and used to pad the MANY poor reviews they have. Read the bad ones for yourself, the good ones are very generic and easy to spot fakes. read the bad reviews, those are the only real ones. They delivered my stuff broken, didn’t meet deadlines, the mover complain instead of help. Just awful all the way around. They do a good job hiding bad reviews though, I give them credit for that.
I had an excellent experience with this company. At each stage of the process. I was moving from NJ to NC. I did a lot of research to see who was really capable of handling the move the way I needed it done. I was not disappointed. Starting with Bill who showed up on time in the evening after work (very accommodating so I didn't have to take time off of work for the estimate) and who made sure to get the quote right and answer all my questions before leaving. Note: his quote was VERY on target. He also stayed in communication with all my questions and changes later. Great service. Then Jessica in the office. Made any change that came up with no problem and super friendly and easy to work with. Answered all my questions quickly, knowledgeable, up front, and held commitments. Great service and what I was told would happen, happened. And the best was the crew lead by Jose and his team. Hard workers, knowledge, friendly, experienced, treated my possessions and my homes with care. They were very accommodating to any requests and extremely pleasant the ENTIRE time at both locations. And my bedroom layout looks great because Jose's ideas were better than mine on where the furniture should go. Overall a great experience end-to-end!!
2. The office is completely inept. They sent the driver/moving crew out with an estimate that was 1500 pounds of space needed when our signed agreement was 3000. So the driver said he couldn't move it on the day agreed upon three weeks previous even though we we were scheduled to fly out the next day. They were rude, stressful and took HOURS to get back to us.
The truck arrived at the destination on the first day of the delivery spread. The driver called us before arrival and all was unloaded quickly and in good condition.
Our neighbors used Allied Van Lines for their interstate move and recommended them to us. We followed their recommendation and Reliable Van & Storage as Allied's local partner did not disappoint. The in-home estimate by Diane Stevenson turned out to be spot on. The driver (Spencer) and his crew arrived on time and did an amazing job loading the entire household into the van within a few hours. They handled all items very carefully, used carpet shield and surface mats to protect the floor from any damage and stowed and secured all items perfectly.
I believe the majority of the fault is most likely Reliable, the people who did pack my things: my Venetian glass, which was inexplicably packed under big heavy books and poorly wrapped.
We could not have been more satisfied with the performance. Everybody involved was very professional and courteous. A big "Thank You" to all of them!!!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Absolutely the single worst moving company that I have EVER dealt with. We moved cross country twice with Allied previously and had incredible easy, painless moves; but, when we were forced to work with Reliable in our move out of New York we got a completely different experience.
Not very good. My Venetian glass, statue of St. Michael, the glass to my Monet and Cezanne pictures were broken. Mind you, I gave each of the movers in Jersey City $50 tips, totally $150, with plenty of Gatorade and water. Use Flat Rate movers, which I have used four times without any incident.
6. I understand losing a cardboard box or two; but, they lost major, distinctive things like a unique minimalist side table and custom built bike. How do you lose that? Than they didn't reply to our emails or calls asking for them to hunt the items down for a week.
3. They complained during the entire pack. We packed everything other than the major furniture, labeled it, and gathered it all in one room for them. Previous moving crews praised us for making it so easy. These guys threatened us to charge more, talked down to us, and were completely rude.
